En octobre 2021, à l’occasion des 10 ans de partenariat entre SOL et Navdanya, nous vous présentions notre publication dédiée au rôle crucial des paysannes dans l’agriculture indienne : Les femmes actrices de la transition agroécologique, retour d’expériences sur 10 ans de projets par SOL et Navdanya en Inde du Nord.

Aujourd’hui, à l’occasion de la journée internationale des droits des femmes, nous avons le plaisir de vous partager la version anglaise de cette publication. C’est aussi pour nous l’occasion de rappeler la place des femmes dans l’agriculture : d’après la FAO, les femmes contribuent pour moitié à la production alimentaire mondiale, mais elles sont rarement rémunérées pour leur travail. En Inde, les femmes représentent 55 % de la main d’œuvre agricole mais ne sont que 14 % à posséder leurs terres.

Par leurs actions communes, SOL et Navdanya accordent une attention particulière à la valorisation du rôle des femmes dans l’agriculture et la transition agroécologique et défendent les droits des femmes, à l’échelle locale comme internationale. La version anglaise de cette publication permettra de la diffuser largement et ainsi, de partager avec le plus grand nombre nos retours d’expérience sur le rôle des femmes dans l’évolution des pratiques agricoles.

En cette journée du 8 mars, nous espérons que cette publication permettra d’enrichir la réflexion sur la place des femmes dans l’évolution des pratiques agricoles mais aussi dans la résilience face aux changements climatiques et de participer à la reconnaissance et à la valorisation du travail agricole des femmes indiennes.

The publication « Women actresses of the agroecological transition » available in English

In October 2021, on the 10th anniversary of SOL and Navdanya’s partnership, we shared with you our publication dedicated to the role of women farmers in Indian agriculture: Women actresses of the agroecological transition, feedback on 10 years of projects by SOL and Navdanya in North India.

Today, on the International Women’s Rights Day, we are pleased to share with you the English version of this publication. It is also an opportunity for us to recall the place of women in agriculture: according to the FAO, women contribute half of the world’s food production, but are rarely paid for their work. In India, women represent 55% of the agricultural workforce but only 14% of them own their land.

Through their joint actions, SOL and Navdanya pay particular attention to enhancing the role of women in agriculture and the agroecological transition and defend women’s rights, both locally and internationally. The English version of this publication will allow us to disseminate it widely and thus share with as many people as possible our feedback on the role of women in the evolution of agricultural practices.

On this day of March 8, we hope that this publication will enrich the reflection on the role of women in the evolution of agricultural practices but also in the resilience to climate change and to participate in the recognition and valuation of the agricultural work of Indian women.
